8 years!

For our 8th wedding anniversary, we wanted to do something we have never done before.

As you can see, I wrote on 4 pieces of paper all directions we could go.

Adam drew a direction....

We packed the car with everything we thought we may need for the weekend!

Grabbed these, just in case!

Picture before we left!

Arby's for dinner....

We left Friday night at 8PM and headed NORTH!

About 2 and 1/2 hours later, we ended up in Pocatello, ID for the night.

Stayed there at The Red Lion

Ate breakfast at IHOP. Had to run to the Distribution Center, I swore I packed everything, but had to go buy some essentials :)

Drove by the Idaho Falls Temple

And the Rexburg Temple, from the freeway!

A few other views along are drive to who knows where.

On Friday, we stopped to buy the National Parks Annual pass for our expeditions this summer, good thing we had it because we ended up in Yellow Stone National Park!!

Adam and I both have not been there since we were really little kids.

We stopped in West Yellow Stone to grab some food and this HUGE crow was just walking through the parking lot! We also ran into a gas station to grab some drinks (you can't use the restrooms without buying something and the grocery store did not have public restrooms...long drive) and the guy working was very friendly and helpful. His wife is from Murray, small world!

With in the first few minutes into the Park, we saw elk

He made is safely across ;)

The other followed.

More elk

Lots of buffalo

BIG buffalo across the river

More and more buffalo....

Hot springs

Like our self portraits?

Can you tell how hot the water is with the steam, the outside temp was about 75 degrees.

Some weird bug we hit.

Some of many falls!

Some of many geysers in the park!

Can you tell what that is?

Yep! It is a grizzly bear! We were both SO excited to see one!

He was about 50 yards away from the side of the road.

This is how many other people were excited to see it as well!

Another animal

More falls...

A squirrel

Adam doing his "Rocky" run!

The Grand Canyon of Yellow Stone

Lower falls, right under us...a little scary but fascinating.

A lookout across the way

The upper falls

buffalo

Can you tell I was getting tired and a little lazy towards
the end of the day by taking pictures from the car.

Yellow Stone Lake

Love the trees bordering the road.

We were so lucky to get the last room available at the Old Faithful Inn!
This is the Old Faithful from our room window.

After checking in, we were heading to park, and this ran across the road

A white wolf! Very rare to see, but scary and exciting

The inside of the Old Faithful Inn

This is how my Saturday night went.....not so fun! Got Adam's cold he had earlier in the week.

Adam gave me this book for our anniversary! I am SO excited to start reading it.

The Old Faithful Inn

We walked around for a little bit to see all the other geysers around the Old Faithful

This Grand Geyser was pretty cool! It went off for about 10 minuets!

I thought it was interesting that most of the trees close to it were dead and white from the sulfur.

The cool dinning room where we had dinner and breakfast. The food was ok, I was not too impressed with it and especially not for the price!

This is a tree hut that builder had made into the Inn as well. He wanted a place to be kid, so he made a tree house inside. They don't let anyone up there because there was a 7.5 earth quake in 1952 and therefore the structure has not been safe.

Just chilling by ourselves on this nice deck!

Our room

What a beautful place to stay! So glad we lucked out to get the last room on opening weekend!

On the drive home, Adam tried for about 10 minutes to open this bag of M&M's. It was pretty funny. I had no strength and was unable to help because I was weak from my sickness.

We drove through here!

We also drove through Jackson Hole, it was cool to see and we will have to go back sometime to check it out more in depth.

Our GPS took us this crazy way home! It took us what we thought was forever (Don't trust your GPS). Plus we had to stop about every hour for me to pee, drank tones of water!

Even though it was a long road home, we had a lot of fun just chatting and talking about our past years of marriage and all the wonderful times we have had together and we both can't wait for what the future will bring!

We drove a little over 800 miles round trip. Used about 15 gallons of gas, got 51.8 mpg average and  got almost 700 miles on a tank! We sure love our car and so glad we bought a diesel!

That was our 48 hour trip North!

What a fun idea, and Yellowstone is a great place to go. It looks like you saw tons of animals too.

Aww, I miss you, my friend! Looks like your trip was a blast! I wish I would have been able to visit there before I moved across the country, it looks beautiful there! Glad you had fun! :)
