A Miracle

Our Sunday lesson was on spiritual gifts, Adam taught. We got on the thought of Miracles. At that time, I could think of one, my dad and all that he had to go through over a year ago. But then Tuesday happened.

Tuesday August 17, 2010
5:00pm arrived home from work
5:10pm Adam went to check on our community pool (He is on the board and is in charge of opening and closing the pool for a few weeks.)
He checked the pool chemicals and noticed the Chlorine was low in the pool. He called the CPO, but he could not come out, so Adam wanted to help out and not have to close the pool for the night. He got a bucket and filled most of it up with chlorine to dump into the pool. As he was dumping the bucket, the chlorine started to spill, as he tried to tip the bucket up to stop the spilling, the chlorine splashed up his RIGHT side and directly into his eye!

Let me back up a little- Adam's LEFT eye did not fully develop and he was born legally blind in the left eye.

5:15pm Chlorine splattered into Adam's right eye
grabbed hose and started flushing, cold water hurt ran into club house restroom and flushed more.
5:20 Ran home to Jenn
5:21 Jenn called poison control- Adam flushing eye still
(first time EVER to call poison control- SCARY!)
5:30 Called Brother in-law Dave (ophthalmologist, currently in Florida)
Talked to Dave and Poison control while Adam still was flushing his eye out as fast as the water could come out.
6:20pm Drove to the U ER
6:45pm Checked into ER
7:00pm EMT checked out Adam (Right eye blurry, red, swollen and soar)
7:30pm RN check Ph (put a piece of paper, literally, on his eye-7.5)
7:45pm Nurses flushed eye (they put this contact lens on his eye, connected to a tube which was connected to an IV- WEIRD)
7:50-8:15pm Flushed eye- (Adam was very uncomfortable)
8:30pm Checked Ph again (same -7.5)
8:30-9:30pm waited for the DR- Adam seeing double vision
9:35pm Dr did an eye exam (could see a few scratched on cornea but wanted us to see a specialist in the morning)
10:15pm discharged from the ER
10:15-10:20pm called my brother, Jason and father in-law to set up a blessing
10:20pm Arrived at Walgreen's to fill antibiotic eye drops
10:30pm dropped off prescription- 40 min wait
11:15pm left Walgreen's
11:30pm arrived at Adam's parents
11:40pm Received a blessing
12:00am left parents house
12:30am went to bed
12:30-7:00am- sleepless night
Adam's eye swollen shut but not as red and able to see a little better!!!
7:40am Left for Moran Eye Center emergency check up
8:10am arrived
9:20am called back
9:40am Talked w/ Dr
9:45am did a full eye exam
10:00am Dr said he could not see any major damage on the cornea and said all vision should come back!!! He said if it was not for Adam's quick thinking to start flushing right away, he could have lost his vision. I think it was Adam's quick thinking and the power of the priesthood blessing that really makes this miracle complete.
Adam woke up this morning feeling better and he believes his eye sight is back to
normal.

Its  miracles like this that make me closer to my Heavenly Father and to my husband.
