Alone in the woods...

Jenn and I took the opportunity to get away this weekend. It was sort of a last minute decision, that turned out to be just what we needed. We used to take off all the time by ourselves, and head up to the Uintas to get away, but as we have been remodeling, our time has been in short supply. I spent a couple of nights packing and making a meal plan. On Friday, we left work early and headed for the mountains. We sort of knew where we were going, but left that discussion for the car ride up the canyon. Two days and 10 miles later, our laid back approach turned out to be just enough to create a pretty fun, relaxing weekend for the two of us.

Home away from home.

Summit - Mount Watson - elevation 11,527 feet

What's for dinner? We baked some cornbread
and made some curry lentil soup.

This brook trout was 14". She landed it within her first
couple of casts. I am also supposed to mention that this
was the first fish of the day. When I married Jenn,
getting out-fished regularly, by her or any other
Brudnicki, was something that took a while to get used to.

I thought I might have better luck off this cliff... or at least
have an opportunity for ending my embarrassment quickly.
One of the great things about a trip like this is to have
multiple options available in case things don't go as planned.

Ahh... the breakfast of champions.

Somewhere, in there is a knife.
Don't worry, she figures it out.

On the way home, we stopped off at the Provo River Falls to cool off for a bit.

We got a little sun, on the hike out.
Poor, Jenn got a little more than she should have.

The mountains, for me, produce a certain calming effect,
and are a welcome change from my daily monotony.
Hopefully, this is not the last trip of the season, but if it is,
it was worth the effort and a nice close to the summer.

Awesome pictures. Enjoy your spontaneity before kids come along. (Not to say that you can't do things spur of the moment, it's just a whole new ball game.) It's always good to have some alone time with your spouse- good for you guys.
